During the healing time you will notice your piercing secreting a clear milky fluid and drying up around the jewelry in a yellowish crust. This discharge is lymph, blood plasma, and dead cells and will taper down as the piercing heals.

The area may be red, tender and feel slightly bruised. You experience some swelling, bleeding, bruising or discharge. This is all normal.

There are no stupid questions regarding your health. If you think that you may need attention, once again: do not remove the jewelry. This can cause problems for you. Call us or stop by for us to take a look.

Do Not’s

Do not submerge your piercing in any body of water during the healing period.

Do not use chemicals or ointments! Rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Neosporin, bactine, etc. are the wrong tools for the job. These products are too strong for everyday use and do not promote healing. They may cause rashes, swelling, and irritation.

Do not use make up near your piercing for at least one month. Excessive use of makeup is a path to the darkside (or infection).

Do not move or rotate the jewelry. It is a common misconception that jewelry must be turned to make sure that it does not get stuck in your body. The jewelry you are healing with is made out of an implant grade material.

Over time your piercing will heal and jewelry will move freely. Moving or rotating the jewelry in a new piercing as this is the equivalent of picking a scab. Excessively touching the piercing will lengthen the healing time, cause irritation, and increase the risk of problems arising or even cause the loss of jewelry you are wearing.

Do’s

Do use a gentle saline solution that will aid in the natural healing of your new piercing. Soaking your piercing twice a day for 5-10 minutes is recommended for the duration of the healing period.

We recommend mixing 4 teaspoons of non-iodized sea salt into one gallon of distilled water.

Do leave your piercing alone.

Yes, we do pierce minors with a few age-specific guidlines:

• Infant/child earlobe piercings: We offer ear piercings for babies ages 1 year and up

• Other ear/facial/belly piercings: We pierce minors ages 15+ years with parental consent.

• MUST BE 18+ for nipple piercings

We require that they are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian throughout the entire session. We also require both the minor and the parent/guardian to have legal ID present at the time of the piercing. For the minor, this can be any form of government issued ID or school ID if both parties have the same last name. Please bring the minor’s birth certificate (or a clear, legible picture of it) if you have different last names or have no other identification for the minor. We will not accept insurance cards or SSN cards. If you are a legal guardian, please bring in proper documentation to verify that.

Baby Piercing Specific

For baby piercings, the parent or legal guardian must be present with a valid government-issued photo ID. Because babies do not have photo identification, we require the birth certificate to verify age and confirm the legal relationship. If the last name differs from the parent’s ID, additional legal documentation may be required.

Babies & Minors Without Government ID

Minors who do not yet have a government-issued photo ID must bring a birth certificate or school ID. The parent or legal guardian must also bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, passport, or state ID. The birth certificate/school ID is required so we can verify the minor’s age and confirm the legal relationship with the adult providing consent. If the last name differs, we need additional legal documentation.

Teens With Government Issued ID

Minors who have a government-issued ID must bring their own valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or state ID. The parent or legal guardian must also be present and bring their valid government-issued photo ID. Both IDs must be presented at the appointment so we can verify identity and complete the required consent documentation. If the last name differs, we need a birth certificate or additional legal documentation.

Last Name Does Not Match

If the parent’s last name does not match the minor’s identification or birth certificate, additional legal documentation is required to confirm the relationship. This may include a birth certificate listing the parent’s name, marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court guardianship paperwork. Without matching documentation, we will not be able to perform the piercing.

Not Accepted As Identification

Insurance cards and Social Security cards are not accepted as identification. All IDs and documents must be valid and physically present at the appointment. Legal guardians must bring official court documentation showing guardianship if they are not the biological parent listed on the minor’s birth certificate.
